Refund & Returns Policy

This Refund & Returns Policy applies to orders placed with spnblades for custom made prop blades and prop weapons.

1. Overview

We want every customer to feel confident when placing an order with us. At the same time, custom made items require time, materials, and work that are reserved specifically for each customer.

Because custom made blades are produced, modified, or finished according to individual requirements, they usually cannot be returned to standard stock or resold as regular items.

For this reason:

  • Standard, non-custom items may be eligible for return under the conditions below.
  • Custom made or personalised items are generally not refundable once accepted for production.
  • Defective, damaged, incorrect, or non-conforming items will always be handled fairly and in line with applicable consumer protection laws.

Nothing in this policy limits any mandatory rights you may have under applicable consumer law.

2. Custom made and personalised orders

A product is considered custom made or personalised when it is produced, modified, engraved, sized, finished, sharpened, assembled, designed, or adapted according to the customer’s individual selection, measurements, instructions, drawings, specifications, materials, finish, handle choice, engraving, blade geometry, sheath option, or other personal requirements.

2.1 Cancellation before production

You may request cancellation of a custom order within 24 hours after order confirmation, as long as production, special material sourcing, design work, engraving, heat treatment, machining, or other order-specific work has not yet started.

If cancellation is accepted during this period, we will refund the amount paid, minus any payment processing fees that cannot be recovered by us.

2.2 Once production has started

Once production, design work, material sourcing, engraving, machining, heat treatment, finishing, or other order-specific work has started, we are no longer able to cancel, return, or refund custom made or personalised orders for change of mind.

This includes cases such as:

  • buyer’s remorse;
  • selecting the wrong model, size, finish, steel, handle material, engraving, or other specification;
  • a change in personal preference;
  • delays caused by customs, import checks, courier handling, or events outside our reasonable control;
  • inability to import, own, carry, or use the item in the customer’s location, unless we expressly agreed in writing to handle that legal check for you.

Where suitable and commercially reasonable, we may still offer a goodwill solution, such as an adjustment, repair, store credit, or partial refund. Any goodwill solution is voluntary and does not create an obligation for future cases.

3. Non-custom standard stock items

For standard, non-custom, non-personalised stock items, you may request a return within 14 days after delivery, unless a different mandatory law applies.

Returned items should be:

  • unused;
  • undamaged;
  • unsharpened after delivery;
  • not modified, etched, engraved, disassembled, or altered;
  • returned with all packaging, accessories, certificates, sheaths, and documentation where reasonably possible.

The customer is responsible for return shipping costs unless the item is defective, incorrect, or damaged on arrival.

Original shipping charges, customs duties, import taxes, brokerage fees, and payment processing fees are refundable only where required by applicable law or where the return is caused by our error.

4. Defective, damaged, or incorrect items

Please inspect your order shortly after delivery.

If the item arrives damaged, defective, incorrect, or materially different from the agreed specifications, please contact us at support@spnblades.com within 2 days after delivery.

Please include:

  • your order number;
  • clear photos or video of the issue;
  • photos of the packaging if the parcel arrived damaged;
  • a short description of the problem.

If the issue is confirmed, we will offer an appropriate solution. This may include repair, replacement, adjustment, completion of missing parts, partial refund, or full refund, depending on the circumstances and applicable law.

Please note that normal handmade variation is not considered a defect. Minor visual or dimensional differences can occur with handmade products, provided the item substantially matches the agreed specification and is fit for its intended purpose.

5. Damage during shipping

If the package appears damaged on delivery, please photograph the parcel before opening it and keep all packaging materials.

Where possible, report visible transport damage to the carrier at the time of delivery. Then contact us promptly so we can help with the claim process.

Please contact us before returning any damaged item.

6. Return authorisation

All returns must be approved in advance. Please contact support@spnblades.com before sending anything back.

We may refuse or return, at the customer’s cost, any shipment that is sent without prior authorisation, is unsafe to handle, is inadequately packaged, or does not comply with applicable shipping, customs, or weapons laws.

Items must be packaged safely and legally for transport. Blades must be secured so they cannot move, puncture the packaging, or injure handlers.

7. International orders, customs, import restrictions, and local law

Customers are responsible for checking whether the ordered item can legally be imported, owned, possessed, carried, resold, or used in their destination country, state, province, or locality.

By placing an order, the customer confirms that they are legally allowed to purchase, import, receive, and possess the item.

We may refuse, cancel, or refund an order if we believe shipment would be unlawful, unsafe, or commercially unreasonable.

For international shipments:

  • customs duties, import taxes, VAT, brokerage fees, storage fees, and similar charges are the customer’s responsibility unless stated otherwise at checkout;
  • customs delays are outside our control;
  • if a package is refused, returned, abandoned, seized, or destroyed due to import restrictions, unpaid customs charges, incorrect address information, failure to collect the parcel, or failure to comply with local law, we may deduct shipping costs, return costs, customs charges, payment fees, and the non-resellable value of any custom work from any refund, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

8. Deposits and staged payments

For custom orders, we may require a non-refundable deposit before work begins. This deposit helps cover design time, administration, special material sourcing, and reserved production capacity.

If we cancel the order for reasons not caused by the customer, we will refund the deposit unless otherwise agreed and permitted by law.

If the customer cancels after order-specific work has started, the deposit and any amount related to completed work, sourced materials, or non-resellable customisation may be retained, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

9. Refund timing and payment method

Approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.

Refunds are usually processed after we have received and inspected the returned item, or after we have confirmed that no return is required.

Depending on the payment provider and bank, it may take additional time for the refund to appear in the customer’s account.

10. Exclusions

Refunds or returns may be refused where the issue was caused by:

  • misuse, neglect, unsafe handling, or improper maintenance;
  • corrosion, patina, staining, or wear caused by use, storage, moisture, chemicals, food acids, or lack of care;
  • unauthorised sharpening, modification, repair, disassembly, engraving, or heat treatment;
  • normal wear and tear;
  • damage caused by third-party services;
  • use for an unlawful, unsafe, or unintended purpose.

11. Legal rights

This policy does not exclude, restrict, or replace any mandatory rights that apply under consumer protection, product liability, sale of goods, or other applicable laws.

If any part of this policy is invalid or unenforceable in a specific jurisdiction, the remaining parts continue to apply as far as legally permitted.
